Terms of use

Last updated 22 October 2026

Servd is an open marketplace. We connect people who need a private chef, a massage therapist or a cleaner with independent providers who offer those services. These terms apply to everyone who uses the Servd website or app. By creating an account or booking, you agree to them.

The short version

  • Providers do not work for Servd. They are independent, self-employed people who list their own services and set their own prices.
  • You choose who to book, at your own risk. We check every provider's ID and bank account before they appear, but we cannot guarantee how any provider behaves or the quality of their work.
  • Your money is protected when you pay on Servd. We hold your payment and only release it to the provider after the job is done. If they decline or don't answer, you get it all back.
  • Never pay a provider directly. Money paid outside Servd is not protected and we cannot get it back for you.

1. What Servd is, and what it is not

Servd is a booking platform. We provide the website and app, take payments through our payment partner Paystack, hold that money while a job is open, and pass it to the provider or back to the client under the rules on this page.

We are not a cleaning company, a catering company or a spa, and we do not provide the services listed on Servd ourselves. The contract for each service is between the client and the provider.

2. Providers are independent

Providers on Servd are not our employees, agents, partners or representatives. They decide whether to offer their services here, which jobs to accept, what to charge and how to do the work. They may also work elsewhere. They are responsible for their own work, their own tools and supplies, and their own taxes, permits and insurance.

Some providers are agencies or businesses that list their own team. The people on an agency's team work for that agency, not for Servd. The agency is the provider for your booking and is responsible for its staff.

Nothing a provider says or does is said or done on behalf of Servd.

3. Booking is at your own risk

Before a provider appears on Servd, they upload a government ID, verify a Nigerian bank account in their own name, and agree to our provider terms and code of conduct. Our team reviews each application. Providers with the Servd Verified badge have also been met in person by our team. These checks reduce risk but do not remove it. We do not carry out criminal record checks, and we do not supervise jobs.

So we cannot promise that a provider will turn up, behave well or do good work. You decide who to let into your home. Please read our safety tips, use reviews from other clients, and use the booking messages to agree the details before the day.

4. How your payment is protected

  • You pay the full price shown when you book, through Paystack (card, bank transfer or USSD). We never see your card details.
  • The money is held by Servd while the booking is open. The provider does not receive it when you book.
  • If the provider declines, does not accept in time, or you cancel before they accept, you get a full refund automatically.
  • After the job, the provider marks it done. The payment is released to them when you confirm, or automatically after the release time shown on your booking (currently 48 hours) if you have not reported a problem.
  • If you report a problem before the payment is released, the money stays on hold while our team reviews what happened. We may pay the provider, refund you, or split the amount.
  • For chef bookings, the ingredient budget shown on the package is sent to the chef as soon as they accept, so they can shop. That part has left Servd and is not covered by the hold.

The full rules are in our refunds and cancellations policy.

5. Payments outside Servd

Only payments made through Servd are protected. Providers are not allowed to ask for payment, tips in place of payment, or extra charges outside Servd, or to arrange future jobs off the platform. If anyone asks you to, please tell us through the Help and support page. We cannot recover money paid outside Servd.

6. Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to use Servd.
  • Give your real name and a phone number you can be reached on. Keep your password private; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • One account per person. Don't create accounts for other people without their permission.

7. Using Servd properly

You must not use Servd to:

  • ask for or offer sexual services. Massage on Servd is strictly therapeutic and non-sexual;
  • harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against anyone;
  • book with stolen or someone else's payment details, or try to get a refund you are not entitled to;
  • post false reviews, false information or someone else's photos;
  • do anything illegal in Nigeria, or try to break, copy or overload the site.

8. Messages

Once a booking is paid, the client and the provider can message each other on the booking. Until the provider accepts, phone numbers and email addresses in messages are hidden. Keep messages respectful and about the job. Our team can read booking messages when a problem is reported, to keep people safe, and to enforce these terms.

9. Reviews

Only clients who completed a booking can review the provider. Reviews must be honest and about the service. We may remove reviews that break these terms, but we do not edit them or remove them because they are negative.

10. Fees

Clients pay the package price, plus the ingredient budget on chef packages, plus any booking fee shown on the summary before paying. Providers pay Servd a commission on the package price (currently 15%), taken before payment is released. Ingredient budgets are passed to chefs in full.

11. Gifts, credit, "Pay for me" and invites

  • Gifts. You can buy a gift of an amount, or of a specific package, and send the link to someone. The person who opens the link first and adds it to their account owns it, so share the link only with the person it is for. A gift can be used on one-time bookings, in one go or over several bookings, and is valid for 12 months from purchase.
  • Unused gifts. If a gift is not used within 12 months, the unused value goes back to the person who bought it as Servd credit, valid for a further 12 months. Gifts and credit cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • Package gifts. A package gift can only be used for that package. If the provider stops offering it or leaves Servd, contact us and we will turn the gift into credit of the same value.
  • Refunds on gifted bookings. If a booking paid partly or fully with a gift or credit is refunded, the gift or credit part goes back to the gift or credit, and only the part paid by card or transfer goes back to the bank.
  • Pay for me. You can send someone a link to pay for your booking. They pay through Paystack without an account and see the service, the provider, the date and the city, but not your address or phone number. The booking only goes to the provider once it is paid. Refunds go back to the person who paid.
  • Invites. When someone you invite signs up with your link and completes their first booking of ₦5,000 or more, you each get Servd credit (the amount is shown on your bookings page). Rewards are once per person, cannot be earned by inviting yourself or using several accounts, and we may cancel credit earned through misuse.

12. Our responsibility

We work to keep Servd running and to handle your money exactly as described here. As far as Nigerian law allows:

  • we are not responsible for what providers or clients do or fail to do, including injury, loss, theft or damage to property during a job;
  • for any booking, the most we will be responsible for is the amount you paid through Servd for that booking;
  • we are not responsible for delays caused by banks, Paystack, network outages or events outside our control.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

13. Suspending accounts

We may suspend or close an account, hide a listing, or cancel a booking if we believe these terms have been broken, someone is at risk, or there is fraud. Money still held for an open booking will be refunded or paid out under the rules above.

14. Changes

We may update these terms as Servd grows. We'll change the date at the top, and tell you about important changes on the site or by email. Bookings already paid follow the terms in place when you paid.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a complaint, please contact us first through the Help and support page so we can try to sort it out.
