Privacy policy
Last updated 22 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Servd collects when you use our website or app, why we collect it, who can see it and what your rights are. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run bookings, payments and safety checks, and nothing more.
- We never see your card details. Paystack handles payments.
- A provider sees your exact address and phone number only after they accept your booking.
- Provider ID documents are private: only our team can open them.
- We do not sell your information and we do not use advertising trackers.
1. What we collect
Everyone with an account
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your password, which is stored by our sign-in provider in a scrambled (hashed) form. We cannot read it.
When you book
- The service, date and time, the address and city where the job happens, and any notes you add.
- Payment details from Paystack: the amount, the payment reference and whether it succeeded. Your card or bank details stay with Paystack.
- Messages you send to the provider on the booking, any problem you report, and any review you post.
If you are a provider
- Your public profile: display name, photo, description, services, packages and prices, state, city and the areas you cover.
- A government ID document, used only to check who you are.
- Your bank account. We send the account number to Paystack to verify it and to set up payouts. We keep only the bank name, the account name, the last 4 digits and Paystack's reference for the account.
- Your jobs, earnings and payouts.
Other
- Messages you send to our support team, and the name and email you give if you are not signed in.
- If you join a waiting list for a state, your email or phone number, the state and the service you want.
- Your browser keeps you signed in and remembers the state you chose, using its own storage on your device. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Our hosting providers keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to fix problems.
2. Why we use it
- To provide the service (our contract with you): creating your account, taking and holding payments, passing bookings to providers, paying providers, issuing refunds, and sending emails about your bookings.
- To keep Servd safe (our legitimate interest): checking providers before approval, preventing fraud, reviewing reported problems and enforcing our terms.
- To meet legal duties: keeping payment and accounting records.
- With your consent: telling you when providers are available in your state, if you joined a waiting list. You can withdraw consent at any time.
3. Who can see your information
- The public can see providers' public profiles, packages and reviews. Reviews show only the reviewer's first name.
- A provider sees your first name, the area, the time and your notes when you book. Your exact address and phone number are shown only after they accept. They see the messages you send them.
- A client sees the provider's phone number only after the provider accepts the booking.
- Our team can see account, booking, payment and message information, and providers' ID documents, to run the service, help with support and settle problems.
- Companies that run parts of Servd for us, only as needed: Paystack (payments, refunds and payouts), Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Netlify (website hosting) and, where we send emails, our email delivery provider. Some of them store data outside Nigeria; where they do, we rely on the protections the Nigeria Data Protection Act requires for transfers.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell personal information.
4. How long we keep it
- Account information: while your account is open.
- Booking, payment and payout records: as long as we need them for accounting, tax and legal reasons, even after you close your account.
- Provider ID documents: while the provider account is open, then deleted unless we need them for an unresolved problem or the law requires us to keep them.
- Booking messages and support conversations: as long as needed to deal with any problem about that booking and to keep the platform safe.
- Waiting list contacts: until providers are available in your state, or until you ask us to remove you.
5. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong (you can edit your name and phone number yourself);
- delete your information, where we don't need to keep it for a legal reason;
- stop or limit how we use it, or send it to you in a format you can reuse;
- withdraw consent you gave earlier.
To do any of these, message us on the Help and support page. We may need to confirm it is you first. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
6. Security
Every connection to Servd is encrypted. Access to booking and payment data is restricted by strict database rules, ID documents are stored privately, and our team accounts are protected. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and never share it.
7. Children
Servd is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and tell you about important changes on the site or by email.
